Meet the Blogger- Katie from KT Likes Coffee

There are many times I feel like the only person who works a day job and tries to blog on the side especially when it feels like I’m struggling. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. Meet the Blogger is a series to help you see you are not alone by letting you meet other bloggers like you- working to build a successful blog while working a full-time job.

And now…

Working a full-time job while building a lifestyle blog is hard enough, how about adding in being a mom? Writing about working from home, being a mom, and that thing that keeps many of us going- coffee, meet Katie from KT Likes Coffee!

Tell us a little bit about your offline life and work.

I work from home full-time for a small business that does government contracting. I have been working remotely since 2016. I’m also a wife and mom to one little girl who is 1.5 years old.

Are you currently working full-time while blogging or have you been able to transition from full-time job to full-time blogger?

Currently working full-time while building my blog

Why and how did you get into blogging?

I have always wanted to start a blog. I just never found my passion or drive (or I was too afraid to start something). One day I just started writing more and more and I decided to go for it and here we are!

What is your goal with your blog?

My goal with blogging is to build up my blog and become a go-to resource for new moms and coffee lovers. Ultimately I hope to be able to create avenues that will allow me to generate passive income.

How close are you to your goal?

I’ve only been blogging for a few months, so I’m still a ways off! I know it can take years to get your blog noticed/established. But, I’m just keeping at it and working on building a following. I know that with dedication and persistence passive income will come in time if I keep at it.

What is the biggest challenge you have blogging while working a full-time job?

My biggest challenge is not getting burnt out with my blog, work, and mom/wife life. It’s a balancing act and there are some things that I would love to do with my blog, but I just can’t right now due to my full-time job and family life. So, it is just a balancing act and I’m still trying to figure it all out since I’m so new into blogging.

What is something you are proud to have accomplished on your blog while working a full-time job?

I built my website all by myself using WordPress and Elementor. I’m extremely proud of what I was able to do on my own through templates, guides, videos, etc. It was hard and there are still things I want to change, update, and add. But, overall, I’m proud of the way it looks right now and that I did it on my own.

How do you stay motivated to work on your blog?

It is actually a joy to work on my blog so staying motivated is not hard for me. I want to write, create, and connect with other bloggers as well as my readers. I think if you find something you are passionate about you will be motivated to do it.

What advice would you give to someone who is trying to blog while working a full-time job?

Don’t spread yourself too thin. Figure out what you can do now and just do that. You might only be able to write a blog post once or twice a month. Maybe you can do it once a week or twice a week. Whatever it is find the balance that allows you to thrive and not get burnt out.
