Meet the Blogger- Jeannie from The Running Baker

There are many times I feel like the only person who works a day job and tries to blog on the side especially when it feels like I’m struggling. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. Meet the Blogger is a series to help you see you are not alone by letting you meet other bloggers like you- working to build a successful blog while working a full-time job.

And now…

What do you do when you work a full-time job and have several different passions? You combine them into one blog like Jeannie from therunningbaker24. (Can you guess what her 2 passions are?)

Tell us a little bit about your offline life and work.

I work full time as Quality Engineer for a manufacturing company in Singapore and I’ve been here for about 10 years now. When I am not working I enjoy my free time running around Singapore and before the pandemic I played badminton on the weekends with my friends. When the pandemic happened I started making my blog online and full time. Before it was just a hobby and private and I use Tumblr before jumping to WordPress.

Are you currently working full-time while blogging or have you been able to transition from full-time job to full-time blogger?

Currently working full-time while building my blog

Why and how did you get into blogging?

Like I mentioned above 🙂 It’s the pandemic that made me jump to write and made it public. My site is about plant-based/vegan recipes and running and lifestyle. The lockdown and limited interactions with friends and family made me realize I needed an outlet.

What is your goal with your blog?

I would love to make it grow and reach lots of people to embrace plant-based lifestyle. Get into running and who knows maybe one day turn this into a full time job.

How close are you to your goal?

Still very far from it.

What is the biggest challenge you have blogging while working a full-time job?

Time constraints, I work 6 days a week then I needed to cook and take photos and write the articles. Also, geographically since I live in Asia, pay for ads in my blog is lower and I guess the same thing goes with traffic.

What is something you are proud to have accomplished on your blog while working a full-time job?

Making it public, monetizing it, and juggling both things while I still enjoy running which I do before work. Ranking on google with lots of competitors.

How do you stay motivated to work on your blog?

I listen to podcasts a lot and get inspiration from other bloggers as well.

What advice would you give to someone who is trying to blog while working a full-time job?

Time management is the key and it’s okay to pause and set aside if it feels overwhelming. Get yourself some time off and enjoy the process. It’s not easy but worth trying.

Is there any other info you would like to share with readers?
